The Mash-Up Masters
Some people, it would seem, can never be content just paying tribute to one band. Those people include Rock Sugar, and band whose mission seems to be mashing up just about every band of the eighties and nineties into one big mega-mix of classic rock goodness. You like Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing and Metallica’s Enter Sandman? You’ve gotDon’t Stop The Sandman.
Want some Queen with your Motley Crüe; We Will Kickstart Your Rhapsody. Rock Sugar’s appeal is undeniably bolstered by the fact that front man Jess Hartnell is without doubt the best rock and roll impersonator ever. Effortlessly cycling between Vince Neil, Axl Rose and Paul Stanley with an enviable fluidity, Rock Sugar is like the band equivalent of the ultimate mash-up DJ.
Nonetheless impressive despite not encompassing pretty much every band ever, Beatallica, as the name suggests, are a group that fuses the hits of The Beatles with the uncompromising thrash of Metallica. With the albums Masterful Mystery Tour, Sgt. Hetfield’s Motorbreath Pub Band and All You Need Is Blood already under their belts, you can kind of get the idea what they’re going for... needless to say, it’s awesome.
